Position Summary:

The Mathias Die Company Engineering Team leads our tool build construction specifications and die cutting process requirements.  An Engineer will review incoming customer tooling, converting, and custom die cutting equipment applications to determine the build plan that will net our customer the best results.  Engineering is also responsible for the implementation and results of engineering and consulting agreements between Mathias Die Company and our customers.  An Engineer will directly communicate with our customers, the Business Development Team, Order Processing, Estimating, and our Tool Makers to obtain all necessary specifications to develop the final solution.  This position requires confident customer communication in discussing their converting solution needs with a high level of courtesy and professionalism

 

Accountability:

This position reports to the Engineering Manager

 

Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Efficiently engineer custom tooling, converting, and equipment solutions.
  • Contact customers to discuss their project details and specifications.
  • Learn to be confident with OpenShop (ERP/Production System) to maintain customer and production requirements.
  • Process assigned orders requiring detailed engineering support.
  • Develop confident knowledge of materials and production processes utilized in producing laser steel rule dies.
  • Develop confident knowledge of materials and production processes utilized in producing matched metal tooling.
  • Research new technologies utilized in developing converting solutions.
  • Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes such as laser cutting, machining, EDM capabilities, and tool making practices.
  • Detailed understanding of die cutting and stamping equipment and the setup and die cutting processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered part and tool designs.
  • Ability to utilize and interpret designs in SolidWorks and CAD systems.
  • Knowledge of materials being converting and how they react during the die cutting process.
  • Manage new Mathias Die Company converting projects and resolve converting issues and challenges.
  • Manage engineering and consulting agreements held with customers.
  • Review assigned rework team data, identify discussion issues, and seek solutions; problem solver recommendations.
  • Maintain and document departmental manufacturing processes and procedures in conjunction with department leads; record in OpenShop.
  • Work with inspection department and staff on inspection processes and department objectives.
  • Embrace company ISO objectives and ensure processes are followed.
  • Participate on Business Development Team managing customer opportunities in conjunction with sales.
  • Follow all safety rule and practices and promote preventative safety.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Preform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • CAD and SolidWorks experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered prints, technical drawings or CAD prints.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated.
  • Customer oriented with a focus on supporting customers with new projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within a customer’s organization.
  • Team player with the ability to work with all levels of our organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
