Position Summary:

Produce custom machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) milling machines and additional metal fabrication equipment. Support Matched Metal Tool build processes from specifications noted in blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required, any necessary fixturing, and the machines to be used to fabricate parts. Maintaining quality expectations and safety standards and keeps setup records.

 

Accountability:

This position reports to the Production Manager.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tasks are determined by department manager, Supervisor, or Shift Lead on a daily basis.
  • Understands the job ticket requirements and completes each job.
  • Understand and perform the duties required of an operator following correct operating procedures to produce a product that meets quality, tolerance specifications/standards, machine speed & feeds, and fixture setup decisions.
  • Set-up and Program VMC Equipment to produce parts meeting required specifications.
  • Machine controller / software operator capabilities; confident operator.
  • Monitor and review procedures, make revisions, and implement new and improved methods.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Best efforts to maintain production schedule continuity among work shift requirements and production delivery expectations.
  • Stock inventory administrative requirements, anticipating needed stock; role within placing orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.
  • Perform all duties apparent and assigned.
  • Follow all safety rules, practice and promote preventative safety.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

To assist production team to assure the timely completion of a quality product and to meet all quality standards and customer specifications. To satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed.

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds in order to move and manage tooling equipment & supplies.
  • Ability to stand 90% of the work time to perform the duties required of this position.
  • Must be able to climb stairs while carrying dies or other materials from different departments.
  • Ability to read and interpret the directions on the job ticket and correlate them to part production requirements.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and conceptualize blueprint information, job orders, and related information.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Post High School Technical/College Machining Center Course Completion Certification.
  • Three years’ experience in machining technology and mills/lathes and equivalent machining parameters; Haas & Makino Machine manufacturer preferred.
  • Demonstrate Initiative.
  • Computer knowledge or experience necessary.
  • Requires good English oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Works well with hands.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Team player with the ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to handle fast paced work environment.
