Position Summary
The Position & Employee will be assigned various Department production requirements.
- A Quality expectation in meeting instructed customer specifications and requirements.
- Follow informed and instructed production procedures in the completion of jobs/tickets.
- Operate die cutting presses and related die cutting production equipment in a safe, efficient manner, meeting all quality specifications established by Mathias Die Company.
Authority
Tasks are determined by the Department Manager and Supervisor and area Leads on a daily basis.
Accountable to department Manager & Supervisor within Department or Project specific for department activities.
Essential Functions:
Understand work schedule and be timely as required.
Maintain instructed quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Press Operator Level 1:
- Perform various production and maintenance tasks; Perform duties as apparent or assigned.
- Follow OpenShop Make Ready procedures, ensuring a clean cut of the final product, as instructed.
- Understand material control, material handling, and material condition specific to written & verbal instructions.
- Preform setup and preventative maintenance on die cutting department equipment.
- Use OpenShop for production recording keeping requirement per instructions, per job ticket requirements.
- Follow OpenShop job ticket instructions, review Make Ready procedures, ensuring a clean cut of the final product, as instructed.
- Perform clean up after completing die cutting, including marking the die and writing/recording the correct information on the Make Ready Sheet.
- Understand First Cut Requirements & Schedule per dept Manager/Supervisor or Lead; typically supported by the CSR/MDC Orders/Scheduling.
- Forklift Operator. (Not required across-the-board, dept supervisor decision).
- Preform other production area duties, trained duties, as needed or assigned.
- Maintain a clean and efficient work area (Check List).
- Use company ERP software (OpenShop) to collect necessary data to support company project/ticket data collection success.
- Follow all safety rules and practices and promote preventative safety
(MDC Handbook, Right-to-Know Training Video). - Follow all company policies and procedures.
Press Operator Level 2:
- Required to know and understand the Position Summary of “Die Cutter / Utility” & “Die Cutter / Press Operator Level 1”.
- Demonstrate the daily ability to process through and/or assign Department production schedule requirements.
- Demonstrated skill-sets to understand and execute die cutting requirements as instructed in job order ticket, press setups; properly use company computer operating system, Openshop, to manage job ticket tracking requirements.
- Over-see First Cut Part requirements and Scheduling.
- Backup to Supervisor on Shipping Requirements per OpenShop ticket requirements.
- Backup to over-see general maintenance requirements as instructed and communicate machine operating issues to maintain asset quality condition.
- Communicate & recommend department purchasing requirements and inventory needs.
- Communicate & inform Supervisor and/or management on department production equipment operating concerns.
- Trainer for Department.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds in order to move die boards, rule, shipping products, die cutting material, inventory and maintenance requirements.
- Ability to lift and carry a 10 inch x 10 inch to a 48 inch x 56 inch die board.
- The position requires sitting, standing, walking, stairs, bending/knell, lifting through its scheduled shift.
- The position tasks require agility to reach, pull, grasp, left/right twisting/swivel at waist level.
- Adequate vision and hand-eye coordination to interpret directions on the job ticket and handle production flow of die cut parts within finished quality requirements.
- Ability to learn and retain job order information to complete tasks.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively as a team member with individuals from all levels of the company.
- Good English written and verbal communication skills.
- Display or show background to communicate with Supervisor on detail oriented assigned work tasks; when unsure ask.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks; objective to keep one-self busy.
- Present oneself in a professional manner and demeanor.
- Driving/delivery could be discussed as additional requested requirement; please communicate to Manager your status on maintaining a clean Minnesota driver’s license & driving record.
